If you have not seen either of these two acts, don't miss it! This is a co-headline tour with fellow Swede Anna Ternheim opening-- judging from the website Loney Dear plays last in the headlining slot, but who knows for sure?
Asobi Seksu are carrying the torch of dream pop initially lit by Cocteau Twins, Lush and My Bloody Valentine, and while their live show has historically relied a tad too heavily on the strobe light (epileptics beware!), their ethereal vocals in Japanese, English, the to-be-expected unintelligible shoe-gazery gibberish on top of the woozy wall of distorted guitars, and the bountiful enthusiasm more than compensates.
One review: "Their new record Hush has a phoenix rising vibe-a clear sense of shimmering, dew-draped riffs and spiral staircase melodies that are occasionally blurred by bits of guitar violence and sputtering drums ..."
Loney Dear is carrying the standard for the fertile indie pop land of Sweden-- an excellent singer and songwriter who makes the indie-pop babes swoon-- you know who you are! The music of Loney Dear has been aptly described as, “soulful indie folk with a powerful mini orchestra.”
I've cleared my schedule that night so I can make it a meetup-- meet in the restaurant section of the Bottom Lounge between 7 and 7:30 pm-- we'll probably head in around 8 depending on how interesting Anna Ternheim sounds. Kel and I will most likely be dining there beforehand for convenience sake, so by all means email me if you want to join us for dinner (at your cost, of course)!
I'm sure a bunch of us will be there! http://www.myspace.co... and www.loneydear.net
Tickets on sale now at www.ticketweb.com, show is $15.00 and is 18 and over.
