Come see Noah and the Whale! Its a cheap show, its Saturday night, and its at the Empty Bottle.

Tickets: $10 + fees
Tickets can be purchased through Ticketweb here.

While Pitchfork hated Noah and the Whale's 2008 album Peaceful, The World Lays Me Down, other critics loved it. I personally don't always buy into critic opinions and think this group is worth checking out. Wikipedia says that they've been compared to some of our indie rock faves, such as Neutral Milk Hotel, Bonnie Prince Billy and Belle & Sebastien. Another interesting tidbit from Wikipedia: "Their name is a marriage of the title of one of the band's favourite films, The Squid and the Whale, and the director of said film's name (Noah Baumbach). They are also avid fans of the film director Wes Anderson, who helped produce The Squid and the Whale alongside Baumbach; the group's e-mails, and many of their MySpace blog posts, are signed "Sic Transit Gloria", a phrase frequently used in Anderson's film Rushmore." Check out the band's cheeky webpage. So if you love Wes Anderson movies, like the bands they're compared to, and have nothing else to do April 25th, put your $10 to good use and see this band.

Their 2008 album Peaceful, The World Lays Me Down is available through Amazon and iTunes.

Emily, a CIRF member, was kind enough to provide some videos from a show they played last year at the Empty Bottle.

In response to Margalit's question about buying tickets at the door:
Keep in mind that shows we pick as Meetups tend to sell out! We have good taste :). For this particular show, there is no information on the EB website about whether tickets will be available day of (they usually are, will be a couple dollars more than original price and only take cash). If you're really keen on attending, I would strongly recommend purchasing online or by phone (866-468-3401) in advance.
