Shellac with Shearwater - Monday night free show @ Pritzker Pavilion

SHELLAC AND SHEARWATER--AND IT'S FREE!!!!!

What: Shellac with Shearwater
Where: Jay Pritzker Pavilion (exact location to be determined, look for the meetup sign and RSVP for an email with location updates--also check twitter.com/cirfmug)
When: Monday August 10 @ 6:00-6:15 PM
Cost: Absolutely nothing!

"Remember the gateway drug analogy: if you start a kid on Blink-182, he or she might progress to (gasp!) the Clash, and Black Flag, and then Dead Kennedys, and then, most dangerous of all, the selected musical accomplishments of Steve Albini." from My So-Called Punk by Matt Diehl

Steve Albini's Shellac are providing a free sonic assault in the peaceful and idyllic setting of Pritzker Pavillion in Millenium Park, with the more laid-back and stylistically diverse Shearwater opening at 6:30. Look for the sign between 6 and 6:15 and be sure to RSVP for an email with the exact location as the event nears. Bring blankets, chairs, munchies and beverages-- our trio will probably pack a picnic, with the anticipation that Shellac's sound will fry any ants that try to invade. This meetup will happen unless there is more than a 50% chance of thunderstorms, so keep your radars peeled as well and follow our twitter for last minute updates.

Anyone have any questions they'd like to ask the legendary Steve Albini?

Does Steve Albini still think we suck?

Disappointed I didn't see more people there, but it was great to meet Stan, Noreen, Jima, and Nick from Pilot Cloud, even though he's a Phillies fan. John and I enjoyed waxing nostalgic on our Steve Albini history while my son rolled his eyes. The food and parking was mucho pricey, but the show was free, so I shouldn't be complaining.

I rated it "three" because that was what Lucas said and the little guy's voice needs to be heard, but Shellac was brilliant and the large outdoor venue was well-suited for them. Double thumbs up on the John scale.
