Cribs @ Lincoln Hall

Lincoln Hall (map)

CIRF is excited to host the opening night of the 2010 Tomorrow Never Knows music series at Lincoln Hall. Tonight's event will welcome the Chicago return of Wakefield, England's favourite sons, post-punk indie rock group The Cribs.

The Cribs began in 2001 as a family affair consisting of twin brothers Ryan and Gary Jarman, and younger brother Ross Jarman. The trio's raw, punk, lo-fi sound often compared them to similar contemporaries of the time such as the Libertines and early Razorlight. Although their 2004 debut LP The Cribs was basically a hit-and-miss affair, the tables turned in '05 with the release of their solid sophomore effort The New Fellas. TNF reflected a grand step up in songcraft for the band, with the album buoyed by the indie rock anthem "Hey Scenesters". 2007 saw the lads up the ante even further with the Alex Kapranos-produced Men's Needs, Women's Needs, Whatever. Its tighter sound and higher production qualities made tracks like "Men’s Needs", "I'm A Realist", and "Our Bovine Public" great, great listens.

The Cribs are currently touring in support of their impressive new album, Ignore the Ignorant. They continue their upward artistic trend with the assistance and newest band member, the legendary Johnny Marr of The Smiths who joined in '08.

Also rounding out the set this evening is former Moldy Peaches' frontman Adam Green and Portland's The Dead Trees.

Please note that this show is probably going to be one of the higher demand shows of TNK '10 so if you plan on going please consider getting your tickets early before they sell out. Tickets are $15 + fees and can be purchased online here. Show begins at 9pm.

Meetup Details: The pre-show meetup will be right at Lincoln HALL (not Lincoln Station!) at 8:30pm. We have a booth reserved upstairs to watch the show together where I'll have the Blue CIRF tabletop sign. And as always, when trying to find us, please don't be shy in looking for the sign/us there - I promise you we will be there so keep looking.. Hope to see many of you on Jan 13th!

    Hi everyone!

Very excited about tomorrow's show at Lincoln Hall. Some additional deets about finding us tomorrow evening:

The first show begins at 9p, but I will target arriving there around 8:30-8:45p. When you arrive via the front door, take a right and access the balcony via the stairwell. In the balcony, we will have one of the 3 reserved booths. I'll be in the one with the trusty Blue CIRF tabletop sign.

    See you there!

It was a great group of people. I'm now an Adam Green fan! He rocked! Think Iggy Pop, Ramones and Velvet Underground = Green! Too much fun!

first time at lincoln hall and second time seeing the cribs and i gotta say that it was one of the worst sounding shows i can remember seeing. everything, esp the guitars, were way too loud. not sure if it was the sound guy's fault or the venue itself. the band was sloppy too. kinda disappointed but whatever. adam green was entertaining... he reminded me of a cross between julian casablancas and ultimate donny from gil mantera's party dream haha.
