Who doesn't love some fun pop/rock from our neighbors up north and across the sea? We're anticipating a great show--come see Wild Beasts and Still Life Still with CIRF at Schubas!

Note the show starts at 10pm, so Jess and Roland will host the meetup starting around 9:30p. We can then head in to catch most of Still Life Still starting at 10. They were part of a Meetup several months ago and are worth checking out.

About the Bands:
Wild Beasts
Formed in England in 2002, Wild Beasts went through several name changes, relocations and released several EPs before signing with a record label in 2006. They got off to a good start with the release of their first single, 'Brave Bulging Buoyant Clairvoyants. Take a listen. Its a great song. The singer's voice is quite unique, a high falsetto at odds with the heavy guitar. In 2007 they signed to Domino Records and released their first album Limbo, Panto in 2008. Their most recent release, Two Dancers, came out in 2009. Strange comparison, but the lead singer's voice sometimes sounds like the lead singer of Barenaked Ladies to me (especially at the beginning of the song Devil's Crayon). That's where the similarity ends though. Read the Pitchfork review of Two Dancers (it got an 8.4!), they summarize the album and the sound of the band better than I ever could.

Still Life Still
As I said, CIRF recently saw Still Life Still when they were on tour with The Most Serene Republic. Still Life Still is from Canada and signed to the venerable Arts & Crafts label. I'm a sucker for Canadian music, and thoroughly enjoyed the band last time. They have one full-length album, Girls Come Too, released in 2009. And fun fact, last time they played at Schubas they were giving out matchbooks... If there's interest, we can always step in for their full set.
