Lincoln Station (map)

Selected By: Tarun C

What: The Life and Times with This Will Destroy You and Light Pollution

When: Friday, June 4th, 9:30 PM

Where: Lincoln Station/Lincoln Hall - Look for the blue and white CIRF sign! I'll grab a table in the back by the pool tables.

Hey all! Let's meet at Lincoln Station at 9:30 pm (show starts at 10) and walk on over. I'll have the blue and white CIRF sign on display, so look out for that. I've already caught Light Pollution before and they're not one of my favorites, so not sure if I'll go to the first opener yet. I definitely want to catch This Will Destroy You, so I'll check what time they come on and we can head over around then.

Band Details:

The Life and Times is a Kansas City, MO indie rock band fronted by former Shiner bandleader Allen Epley. After Shiner disbanded in late 2002, Epley began working with drummer Mike Myers and bassist/guitarist John “Houdini” Meredith and released their debut EP “The Flat End Of The Earth” in the summer of 2003. “Flat End’s” most noticeable distinction from Shiner was the instrumentation; after the math-rock bombardment that marked Shiner, Epley found a looser, almost Floydian dynamic to his usual foundation of distorted guitar and brooding vocals, and the early material explored the moodier edge of their sound.

This Will Destroy You is an instrumental American post-rock band from San Marcos, Texas. The band is made up of Chris King, Raymond Brown, Jeremy Galindo, and Andrew Miller. Raymond Brown has since gone to medical school and handed the torch to Donovan Jones, who joined in February of ‘08. They are signed to Magic Bullet. The band formed in 2005 and released the EP which was originally supposed to be the band’s demo, Young Mountain, the same year. The EP received favorable reviews. They released their self-titled debut album on January 29, 2008.

See you there!

I'd like to catch This Will Destroy You but I don't think I'd be able to make it to Hideout in time for Cave's set. So Cave wins.

Hey Tarun. Sorry I didn't get a chance to meet you at the show. I looked for the sign but it was a mess in there. Anyway, great show. Really liked The Life And Time. Realized I'd seen them at the Empty Bottle on the same bill as Adam Franklin.
