She & Him with Hollows @ Millennium Park (Free!)

Day of Show Update:

Considering the vast amount of attention this show is getting this is going to be a very crowded outing. I will still try to arrive a little early - as early as 6 pm, if I can, and stake out a spot in the northwest side of the grassy area - probably a bit back from the seating area to avoid the crowds.

Once I arrive, I will update my RSVP note here to indicate some reference points to where I am at, so if you have a smartphone, be sure to check this meetup on it when you arrive for a more accurate location.

You will most likely not be able to see the CIRF sign, as I won't be holding it up for an hour :). For newbies or for those who have not met me, I will be wearing jeans and a bright green t-shirt with a chipmunk and a rabbit boxing on it, and will have a black matador records shoulderbag with me. My picture here is relatively up-to-date. If you'd like my phone number to call or text me if you can't reach me, shoot me an email @ [masked] and I'll pass it along.

I am bringing a blue towel to sit on - I suggest you bring a sheet or towel of your own if you plan on remaining in the grassy area and want to sit down. Millenium Park's rules are located here http://www.millennium... .

Lastly, as always, please take a minute to update your RSVP here - please indicate 'Yes' if you are planning on attending and meeting the meetup group, and 'Maybe' if you are coming to the show but are not planning on meeting up with us.

Thanks everyone! See you later today!

Who: She & Him with Hollows

Where: Millenium Park, Jay Pritzker Pavilion Meet on the northwest side of the grassy area. Look for me (I'll update the day of the show with what I'm wearing) and the blue and white CIRF sign (though that'll be tough to be visible!)

When: 6:30 pm - This is when the first band is supposed to come on (Hollows). I'll try to get there a little before 6:30 and stake out a spot!

She & Him is an American indie folk band consisting of actress Zooey Deschanel (vocals, keyboards) and musician M. Ward (guitar, production). The pair first met in 2006 for a movie soundtrack project for the film ‘The Go-Getter’ in which they recorded a version of Richard and Linda Thompson’s “When I Get To The Border”. Their first studio album, Volume One, was released in March of 2008 on Merge Records. Their second studio album, Volume Two, was released March 23, 2010, just over two years since the release of Volume One. http://www.sheandhim....

Comprised of four women and one lucky guy, Hollows is not your typical pop-punk garage band. Rooted in Chicago's DIY punk scene, the group is pumped to bring their fresh and distinctive sounds to the stage of the Jay Pritzker Pavilion. http://www.myspace.co...

    Hey everyone!

Thanks to everyone who came out to this meetup. I know a few of you had trouble finding the meetup and I have no doubt that some of you were not able to find it at all. I arrived around 5:30 and could not find a spot in the northwest area, however, Beth was nice enough to stake out a spot around the west center area where we settled. We had the sign up in the air for about an hour, from 6:15-7:15, but that was probably difficult to spot from a distance!

If anyone has ideas on an easier way to meet for Pritzker shows that can get that crowded, I'd love to hear them. Sorry for any of you searching for us that could not find us - cell reception was pretty jammed up,so my txts were delayed and I couldn't check my email, either. If there are any newbies that could not make it due to not being able to find the group-note that large of a crowd is a rarity at our meetups and it's usually a lot easier to spot us. I hope to see you at a future meetup!

The place was insanely packed...but I had a great time. I love Zoey.
Thanks Tarun for trying to get everyone together. With the amount of people in attendance, your task was nearly impossible.

I agree it was hard to find, but people really did try to round everyone up, and I was able to find everyone. Maybe waving a flag with a small telescopic flag pole, for portability would help? Another idea is to give the location by the number of speaker hanging in the air ahead of you. We were standing at the sixth row of hanging speaker, 2nd row in. Hmmm... this might be confusion too for some.
