Hey all,
I just wanted to share with you all some information about the
Ideas For Meetups function of meetup.com.
First of all, our fellow indie rock fans have some great ideas for shows and other events. While we take each and every idea seriously, we just can't make each suggestion a meetup event. But that doesn't mean you shouldn't keep using the Ideas for Meetups function or posting on the
message board. Certainly, one of the best uses for it is to see who else is interested in going to a show, and maybe meeting up with that person or persons at the show.
The main concern of this email is that maybe some of you are tired/annoyed/confused from all the "So-and-so has/likes an idea for a meetup" emails. I'm here to tell you there's a way to turn off all those emails you receive. There isn't an organizer function to disable all those emails group wide, so it has to be done at the user level. So here's how you do it:
- Go to www.chicagoindierockfans.net/settings/
- Log in with your meetup username and password if prompted
- In the Group Notifications section at the top:
- Uncheck "posts an idea for a Meetup" if you don't want to get an email when a member has a new idea for a meetup
- Uncheck "likes an idea for a Meetup" if you don't want to get an email when a member likes an idea for a meetup
- At the bottom of the page, hit the "Submit" button
That's all it takes to keep these emails from coming to you if you find them pesky. Of course, if you feel you're missing out on some ideas, then all you have to do is go back to the settings page and check those boxes again. There are also other email settings on that page, so be sure to double check how and when you want emails sent to you from the Chicago Indie Rock Fans Meetup Group.
Cheers,
-Adam
