Following the great advice of one of our group members, I'm starting this thread so that we all have a place to tell the rest of the group about cool new music we've discovered recently. If you've heard something lately that you've completely fallen in love with, and you can't wait to tell everyone you know about it, start by posting it here!

I'll kick things off: I may be late to this party, but a few weeks ago I heard of this band called DeVotchKa. Check out the song "Transliterator" on their myspace page. It's got this cool little toy soldier riff that develops into a kick ass pop song that you'll be singing in the shower in no time.

Kid Dakota - "A Winner's Shadow"

With the exception of college radio-friendly "Chute and Ladders", the remaining album is more subdued. It took a little while for me to get into it, but after several listens I realize almost every song on the album has its "moment."

They have a video on You Tube:

Yeah, just heard this on XRT the other day. Good stuff.

Here's another new band to check out...THE HEYDAY. They remind me a lot of The Format.

They're playing Schuba's on 6/19. I'll be there for sure. Hope others will check'em out too.

My favorite music I've been listening to lately is Lykke Li... her music reminds me a lot of the Shout Out Louds. I'm definitely going to be at her show at Schuba's on May 12th.

Check it out: www.myspace.com/lykkeli

My favorite song is 'I'm Good, I'm Gone'.

Good one Leah! That night at Schuba's will be a Swedish fest with El Perro del Mar joining Lykke Li.

Unfortunately I can't make the show as I don't land back on US soil until that evening.

Let us know how it was!

Starting this thread was a great idea, thanks everyone for sharing some great music I wouldn't have heard of.
Leah, I may go Monday to Lykke Li. I'll know more later this week.

DeVotchka is coming to town tomorrow, btw. They're playing at the Vic May 9.

Anyway, I've been listening to Sick of Sarah & Robyn nonstop for the past 3 weeks. Luckily, I got to see them both this week! Check out my photos of SoS or listen to a sample of Robyn.

I'm also a huge fan of The Cliks, but they're not new just relatively unknown.

Anyone like Santogold? The next big thing according to Rolling Stone. And you might recognize one of the songs from a beer commercial...

P.S. Cut Copy and Black Kids were awesome, don't know if anyone else made it to the show. If you haven't checked them out yet:

Good call on The Cliks! I decided to go see them last fall at Martyr's after hearing their cover of Justin Timberlake's CRY ME A RIVER. The album is very good and they rock in person too.
